Hi, I’m Hella.
I believe everyone deserves to age with grace, dignity, comfort, and joy. Combining my passion for helping older adults with my organizational and project management skills, I started this business to empower older adults by assisting them with the daunting task of moving or modifying a living space to age in place.
Growing up as a military brat, I moved a lot. I can empathize with those who feel the anxiety of leaving one’s comfort zone to enter the unknown. From a young age, those experiences also ingrained in me the skills of organizing and prioritizing the items I keep and arranging and setting up my new space.
About a year after my grandfather was tragically killed in a car accident, my grandmother made the decision to sell their home and move to a smaller house. Knowing what a formidable task this would be for her, I deferred my admission to graduate school for a year and moved to Florida to help her. This entailed everything from listing the house with a realtor to sorting through and dispersing belongings, packing, coordinating and overseeing the move, and setting up her new home. The experience was so rewarding that I subsequently found myself volunteering to assist family and friends with their moves. Unbeknownst to me, this was probably the beginning of Hella Home Solutions!
For over 25 years, I have been working with older adults, 23 of those with Tallahassee Senior Services, from which I retired in 2022. During my time with Tallahassee Senior Services, I learned about the diverse interests and needs of active older adults in our community, state, and nation. In my progressive roles with Tallahassee Senior Services, I developed and implemented programs and services focused on helping older adults age gracefully by staying physically, socially, mentally, creatively, and intellectually active. This included developing, implementing, and ultimately overseeing the recreational, lifelong learning, art, health and wellness, and fitness activities and programs, as well as information and referral resources and services. My career with the City and the Senior Center Foundation was an adventure and a passion that I was honored and humbled to have the chance to partake in!

Having the opportunity to work with professionals and seniors in the Tallahassee, Leon County area, I realized that the aging network is doing an excellent job of meeting many of the diverse needs of older adults in our community, with an exception – a resource for reliable, professional assistance with transitioning! As more and more older adults were retiring in the community, many wanted to move or modify their homes to age in place but were paralyzed by the daunting task. I have launched Hella Home Solutions, recognizing that my skills and passions are the perfect answer to this lack of reliable, specialized senior move management in the Tallahassee area!
In addition to being passionate about my work, I love spending time with family, friends, and my “furry children.” I love traveling, experimenting with new recipes, and staying active and involved in community service. I am a proud graduate of Leadership Tallahassee Class 26 and am humbled to have been a recipient of Tallahassee’s 25 Women You Need to Know. I have been very involved with the aging network locally, statewide, and nationally. I currently serve as Chair of the Board of Elder Care Services in Tallahassee, and as a Director on the Board of Choose Tallahassee.
